Guo-Ping Liu

Prof Guo-Ping Liu is a chair professor with the Southern University of Science and Technology, a member of the Academy of Europe, a fellow of the IEEE, a fellow of the IET and a fellow of the CAA. He has completed more than 80 research projects as a principal investigator, the European Framework Programme, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council of the UK, GEC-Alsthom, ALSTOM, ABB-ALSTOM Power Ltd., Rolls Royce plc and so on. He has published 10 books, over 370 journal papers and 330 conference papers, and has been granted 16 patents, 36 software copyrights and 2 software products. He was named a Highly Cited Researcher by Thomson Reuters in 2014-2015, by Clarivate Analytics in 2016-2018, and by Elsevier in 2014-2020. He received the second prizes of Chinese National Science and Technology Awards in 2008 and 2015. Prof. Liu acted as a general chair of the 2007 IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control, the 2011 International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing, and the 2012 UKACC International Conference on Control. He was the president of the Association of Chinese Engineers in the UK in 1997-1999, the president of the Chinese Automation and Computing Society in the UK in 2001-2002, and the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Automation and Computing in 2004-2021. He is serving as an Honorary Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Advances in Internet of Things", an editorial board member of seven international journals, and a member of three IFAC Technical Committees. He has supervised 10+ postdoctoral researchers, 50+ PhD researchers, and 40+ MSc and MEng postgraduates.
